Summary/Abstract: Based on a corpus of print advertisements for cosmetics targeted at women, this paper analyses the various linguistic strategies employed by advertisers in order to emphasize either the promptness of action of the promoted product, which results in an instantaneous enhancement of some part of the body, or the immediacy of the makeover itself.
