Summary/Abstract: The goal of the paper is to analyze how names of sacred books are translated from Arabic to Slavonic languages in the writings of Tatars of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and to confront them with their equivalents which can be found in the Polish translations of the Bible. It is also an attempt to determine the range and the character of the relations between the Biblical and the Qur’anic translations, and to present the picture of the revealed books which emerges from the analyzed source texts. The texts which constitute the source material, are diversified with regard to both form and time, as the vocabulary has been excerpted from the Polish translations of the Qur’an, from monuments of Tatars of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – which are written in the Arabic script and require transcription and transliteration – as well as from Polish translations of the Bible from the 16th and 17th centuries, and also from modern ones.
