Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the fiction “Mice of Natalie Mooshabr” (1970; Myši Natálie Mooshabrové) by famous Czech novelist Ladislav Fuks (1923–1994). The article is concerned especially with a structure of the ficitional world of the story and with mystification techniques there used. These methods participate in the surprising metamorphosis of the title hero in the end of the story. The Fuks’s fiction is an indictment of any totalitarian regime that invokes the primitive evil in everyone who lives in such conditions and it puts pressure on him to share the power and liquidate its enemies.
