Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with two proses of prominent Czech novelist Ladislav Fuks (1923–1994). Novels “Comeback from the Rye Field” (Návrat z žitného pole, 1974) and “A Little Herdsman from the Lowland” (Pasáček z doliny, 1977) represent the problematic period of Fuks’s writings. In the 70’s he had to write his proses to be appreciated by official normalization reviewers who decided what would be published and what wouldn’t be. Fuks’s creative liberty was made up for writing for order of government establishment. The estetic worth was reduced in the name of programmatic classness of the art but specific poetics of Fuks’s novels from the 60’s and the start of the 70’s stayed conserved in rough outlines as we can consider from his later novels from the start of the 80’s.
