Summary/Abstract: The aspects of the jazz improvisation usage in the pedagogical practice are analysed in this article. The questionnaire reveals music teachers’ approach to the jazz improvisation usage in the pedagogical practice; it also evaluates the theoretical knowledge level of the teachers’ improvisation. More than half of the respondents claim that jazz improvisation in school can be used to play or arrange music, to provide a musical accompaniment, to solfege; it can also be used during various instruments lessons or to learn/teach singing. the correlation analysis data has revealed the essential connection between the improvisation usage in the pedagogical practice and the theoretical preparation of the respondents. The music teachers who have strong theoretical knowledge and skills of jazz improvisation are selfconfident about their creative activities and use improvisation in their pedagogical practice.
