A SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF PROBLEMS AND DIFFICULTIES WITH THE TRANSLATION OF OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS

Summary/Abstract: Since only empirical research can provide accurate and reliable data about the problems and difficulties with the translation of official documents, the sociological approach and the survey as research instrument are worthwhile solutions. The article presents the research strategy and describes the progressive development of the research issues, i.e. the theoretical conceptualization and the exploratory survey which will lead to the design of the survey questionnaire intended to identify the problems and difficulties with the translation of official documents from English, French and German into Romanian.
