DIFFICULTIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC TRANSLATION

Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to identify some of the most frequent problems regarding the translation from Spanish into Romanian of scientific and technical texts. It presents the features of the scientific texts and it discusses the levels of interaction between the translator’s linguistic competence and extralinguistic knowledge. The last part focuses on the main methodological aspects of the translation process, taking into account morphological and lexical problems, especially the terminological errors deriving from false friends and the inadequate assessment of the context.
