Summary/Abstract: The collection “Folk Songs from Timok to Vita” was published in 1928 and it was the first of this type of song collection in Bulgaria. It contains 4076 notated songs, recorded in 228 settlements. In the region where the songs were recorded are also the Bulgarian Muslims settlements from Teteven region, namely the villages Galata, Glogovo, Gradeshnitsa, Babintsi and a part of Kirchevo. The paper compares the records in 1928 book and present-day records of songs, performed by this confessional group. Thus it comments on both sustainability and transformations of the song repertoire since 1928 until today. The text analyzes the verbal content and the musical text of the songs – form, melody, and metrorhythmic.
