Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes Ivan Shishmanov’s works ‘From Paisij to Rakovski’ and ‘Paisij and Rousseau’ in which the Bulgarian scholar compares Paisij and West-European authors and their works. He discusses the factors for the Bulgarian Revival and the context in which Paisij’s Istorija slavenobolgarskaja was composed.
