St Paisius of Hilandar in popular knowledge

Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with present views about Rev. Paisius of Hilandar. The analysis, made in 2009, at South-West Bulgaria, is based on 36 questions. Interviewees of different ages and social positions were asked. The questions discussed concern the following: Paisius’s birthplace, knowledge of “Slav-Bulgarian history”, Paisius’s canonization and commemoration, and his grave.
