Third sector in the Silesian voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to characterize the third sector in the province of Silesia, ranging from statistical data, and ending on the characteristics of the major trends, outlined against the background of the general principles of civil socjety in Poland. There are analyzed qualitative and quantitative data on the organizations operating in the region: their main targets, actions taken and the practical functioning. In addition, there are indicated areas of cooperation between NGOs and local governments (municipal offices, administrative districts and the Marshal’s Office).
