Summary/Abstract: This article represents an analysis of the current Russian external policy, which is different from the one of the former Soviet Era or the Tsarist period. If in the past the Empire was dominated by Eurasian geopolitics, and the Soviet Union used to promote, both ideologically and politically, a global project supported by the military, today, Russia is promoting its own agenda. The leaders from the Kremlin harbour the idea of a new objective: pursuing Russia’s own interest. In this respect, Putin has defined two objectives: economic growth and establishment as global power. Practically, this analysis will concentrate on power mechanisms used by the Kremlin to accomplish its goals.
