Logistics of humanitarian actions as one of the processes of risk management in supply chains

Summary/Abstract: Natural disasters and critical situations happen more and more often, and their effects are becoming more and more severe. Non-governmental organizations pay attention to the need of increasing existing capacities of reacting in case of threats. Many of them show that the logistics is a key to achieve efficient and effective humanitarian aid. Logistic supporting of humanitarian actions requires drawing up detailed procedures reducing or eliminating risk associated with transport, storing and the delivery of aid to the most needing. The purpose of humanitarian logistics is to deliver strategic resources in an appropriate place and in due time in order to ease the effects of cataclysms for people living in the area of their effect.
