Summary/Abstract: The article studies the problem of interlanguage and the Bulgarian English interlanguage in particular. The analysis rests on the theories of behaviourism and mentalism in native language acquisition and foreign language learning, the different views on interlanguage, the idea of systematic and non-systematic errors and the pedagogical approach to learning a foreign language.
