Summary/Abstract: The tell-settlement at Vităneşti ‘Măgurice’ is located in the Teleorman Valley, about 7 km northeast of Alexandria town. Research started here in 1993. The main objectives are the uncovering of the last habitation level belonging to the Gumelniţa B1 phase and the excavation of a stratigraphical control surface. The stratigraphy of the site has been revealed by two stratigraphical sondages: all three phases of the Gumelniţa culture (A1, A2 and B1) are present. The archaeological complexes are represented by houses and hearths with 14 houses discovered so far. The site is very rich in artifacts including vessels, tools and figurines made of various materials such as clay, bone, antler, copper, flint and stone. In the 2008 campaign several special objects were discovered: a series of decorated clay weights; an anthropomorphic vessel; and a golden pendant.
