Byzantine and Early Post-Byzantine Documentary Evidence for the City of Melenikon in the Archive of the Athonite Monastery of Vatopedi

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present article is to provide to the scholarly community dealing with the documentary heritage of the Late Middle Ages new knowledge about some documents pertaining to the city of Melenikon , and mainly to its monastery of Our Lady Spelaiotissa. They are kept in the archive of the Athonite foundation of Vatopedi, which is very rich in late Byzantine and early post-Byzantine acts . The Byzantine documents, i.e. the acts dated up to the year 1500, are expected to be soon published in Paris, as the next volume of the well-known series Archives de l’Athos…
