Summary/Abstract: The present article deals with a small group of Russian copies of the Life of St. Constantine Cyril (abbreviated as LC) from the end of the fifteenth century incorporated in the Reading Menaia for October. The veneration of St. Cyril on October 14th is regarded as a fact and the issue of its origin has not been discussed. The author traces back the way this feast date came into being and won recognition in the pre-Makarios Reading Menaia._The posing of this particular problem inevitably leads to the necessity to analyse and compare the arrangement of the Russian pre-Makarios Reading Menaia which include the LC. The next step is the collation of the transcripts from the pre-Makarios Reading Menaia with those included in the Reading Menaia after Metropolitan Makarios’ reform (after the sixteenth century), for October and February respectively. The results of the text-critical work reveal that there is no distinct boundary between the transcripts in the Reading Menaia for October and for February.
