Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this article is to analyze the scope of using the concept of a learning organization in the business of agricultural productive cooperatives (APCs) in Poland. The secondary aim is to show that having the characteristics of learning organization promotes the development of the APCs, and the lack of it, causes serious crises. This paper presents the results of empirical studies conducted with the use of a survey in 28 APCs in 2013. The main finding is that only 32% of APCs belong to the category of learning organizations. At the same time these are the cooperatives that are optimistic about their future. On the other hand, cooperatives which are in crisis of organizational learning, classified as traditional, expect a hard struggle in their near future to survive on the market or even complete liquidation of their activity.
