Improvement of the supplier selection proces as a sign of organizational learning

Summary/Abstract: Assuming the prerequisites of creating unconventional, often slightly modified, already existing enterprise management tools, especially during the times of economic downturn, on the market for industrial goods, it seems reasonable to propose a concept based on continuous learning of an organization. Therefore, the authors of this study, found the representation of this process reasonable, with regard to the improvement of the supplier selection methodology. For this purpose, the authors are going to present a supplier selection method applied in an existing manufacturing plant based on competencies that are required from him, as well as propose a new method for the selection of suppliers according to established criteria, where the price will be a key factor in the decision making process. In the context of the above, they are going to depict the organization learning process of manufacturing plants in practice, analysing the implementation process of a particular product in terms of selection of the supplier, which in turn will affect the production cost reduction of the implemented product.
