Effective management of family business – competence challenges of succession

Summary/Abstract: Family businesses are one of the foundations of the global economy. Their creation, development and operation is important, both for the national and global economy. The study is the result of search responses to the problem of the essence and meaning of the competence of the successor/manager (successor) and its connection with the effective management of a family business. There has also been an attempt to clarify the meaning of competence as determinants of the development of family businesses. Competency model was designed, which was created in response to the increasing need to systematise the existing knowledge about the professional skills of managers of family businesses.
