The uprising of 1907 in the counties of Tecuci and Covurlui

Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses the evolution of the agrarian problem and the social structure of the peasantry; it also aims to present the most important laws related to the agricultural domain, thus regulating the situation of the peasantry. It focussed on the Moldavian peasantry, because the documents present the evolution of the agrarian problem in this province, in the counties of Tecuci and Covurlui. The measures taken in the agrarian field were pretty ineffective and they did not resolve the problem of peasantry even after 1907, when the uprising was crushed brutally by the authorities.
