Summary/Abstract: Radio and television help to fix and develop the norms of the correct speech, form the attitude of society towards the prestigious speech. Therefore, it is very important the conversational speech of the Mass Media employees to be perfect. Actual problems of the public speech accentuation are analyzed in the article. Basing upon the analysis of the radio and television announcers’ speech, material of Music and Theatre Academy students’ examinations of stage speech and speciality (management) and the interview with students from the Department of Lithuanian Language Linguistics and Communication of Siauliai University the most frequent accentuation mistakes are discussed. One asks what should be done in order to reduce the accentuation mistakes in the public speech. The analysis of the watched television broadcasts shows that the majority of mistakes are the diversion of accentuation. Quite often the mistakes of accentuation transfer. The results of the research of correct accentuation of the public speech proved that the most frequent accentuation mistakes are the diversion and transfer of accentuation. The international words are the most incorrectly accentuated. However, students’ attitude towards the public speech accentuation is optimistic, that public speech accentuated correctly will become the necessity.
