RISK – THREAT VULNERABILITY REPORTS IN SECURITY AREA

Summary/Abstract: Security studies operate with dedicated speciality terms, which are found in various studies and in programmatic documentation of national security. Mutual determination between those dedicated concepts are reveling the intimate mechanism of security processes. The excessive use of the concepts of risk, threat and vulnerability out of their relevant meaning may produce major confusions. As for example, there was an intense debate in Romanian media of 2010 and 2011 on one of the vulnerabilities emphasized by The Project of National Defense Strategy – the possibility of vicious media campaigns against the state. This debate presented this vulnerability as threat, even if the last one’s meaning is totally different. The causes of this misleading are complex ranging from ignorance to targeted intention.
