Summary/Abstract: Based on the results of the medieval rescue archaeological excavations in Sibiu, the study presents the main architectural categories: dwellings and householders, churches and monasteries, precincts (earth fortifications). The archaeological excavations revealed a first stratigraphic level of wooden constructions. In some archaeological sits, we can observe a caesura due to the Big Fire from 1241. It was an exception: a round plan construction probably a baptisteries, included in the precinct round the religious centre (church of community residence of prespiterium). The hospital was placed near this religious centre. The first hospital was a timber construction, replaced by a stone one and, after 1292, by a large and complex hospital-church, managed by The Holy Spirit Order. The second main religious centre was at the periphery of the German settlement where the traces of two churches were uncovered. We suppose that the two churches belonged to the minorites. We can exactly dated the exterior precinct with a coin from Andrew the 2nd (1205–1235) and indirectly, in the same time the interior one. Also we can dated the second level of a timber house with a coin from Carol Robert of Anjou (1309–1342)
