Summary/Abstract: The article presents the phonetic, orthographic and semantic evolution of Greek and Latin origin terms, that have entered modern languages as neologisms: baptisteriu, barbar, bestiar, catharsis, catilinară, cavaler, celulă, magistrat, matroană, pomerium, in order to trace a model of evolution from classical languages to modern languages. The introduction is a theoretical insight on neologisms in Romanian, French and Italian language, and the following chapters discuss the phonetic and orthographic adaptation and the semantic evolution of these words, in order to observe and comment upon the various phases they undergo in the different ages: Antiquity – Middle Ages – modern age.
