Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the verb amare and its word family in Latin lyrical poets, starting from lexicographic sources: etymological dictionaries, ThLL, OLD and explaining the selected properties in the context of each one’s writings. Thus, we selected for the core of erotic vocabulary the verb amare, composed verbs: adamare, deamare, the adverb amanter, the nouns: amor, amator, amatrix, amans, amicus-amica.
