"VULNERABILITY OF THE ECONOMY OF ALGERIA: CHALLENGES AND ISSUES AHEAD"

Summary/Abstract: In Algeria, better macroeconomic indicators and structural reforms in numerous areas have not induced a lasting economic growth. The results are mixed or even insufficient compared to countries of similar level of development but which have not been endowed with the same resources (oil revenues). Moreover, factors of economic vulnerability (weaker export diversification, worsening of the dependence of the balance of payments and the budget on oil revenues and bigger state role in the economy) have increased. The issue of economic recovery endeavours made by the government to spur real growth dynamics is definitely an effective way of making use of oil revenues
