Summary/Abstract: Currently, no one doubts for the contribution and the effectiveness of SMEs to employment. The knowledge of their strategic behavior is only quite limited. Despite the extreme diversity of situations of individual SMEs, a sequential approach of policy options is needed. Thus, there is a need to methodically tackle these different strategies to cope with the competitiveness, to ensure the survival and maintenance in the global economy. This could be done without any complications if the SMEs will adopt these available various strategies to them. This paper deals also with the Algerian SME in its all essential specificities and characteristics.
