A COMPARISON BETWEEN SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ATTITUDES IN PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL WITH ANAMNESIS OF REGULAR ALCOHOL ABUSE AND PSYCHOEMOTIONAL STRESS

Summary/Abstract: Risk behavior is difficult to explain. In this paper we compared psychosocial features and attitudes of inpatients with regular alcohol consumption (RAC, n=79) and regular stress (ST, n=198). It was found out that RAC professed more egocentric philosophy about life, analyzed better the nature of prevention, but had less conscious behavior control, expressed higher self-confidence, but felt more frequently depressive emotions and anxiety. ST looked better integrated in social environment, but paid for it with significant sacrifices. Probably the psychosocial consulting for increasing conscious behavior control (in RAC) and personal independence (in ST) might decrease the need for alcohol and frequency of stress-feelings, respectively.
