Summary/Abstract: The complex strategy of „flexicurity” is the result of two terms combination: flexibility and security. Flexibility is characterized by: successful transitions during one’s life course: from school to work, from one job to another, between inactivity (unemployment, temporary disability) and work; progress of workers into better jobs; flexible work organizations; facilitating the combination of work and private responsibilities. Security is about equipping people with the skills that enable them to progress in their working lives, and helping them find new jobs. Therefore, emphasis should be placed on employment security rather than job security, especially taking into consideration that nowadays very few people keep one job throughout their life. The flexicurity principles reflect on various institutions of labour law, such as temporary agency work, fixed-term contracts and part-time contracts.
