Diagnosis of the innovation level of Polish economy

Summary/Abstract: For the European Union countries the way to reach knowledge-based economy is conditioned by an increase in innovation in their economies. Innovation is the main carriers of competitiveness and is essential for economic growth and wealth creation in the long term. Purely market-based incentives are often too weak to reach the optimal level of management commitment to innovation resources, hence public intervention is needed, e.g. including more funding for R&D, the implementation of new solutions, building new and improving the functioning of existing institutions that affect the innovation economy. This article aims to answer the question, what is the current level of innovativeness of the Polish economy, and how Poland in this respect can be compared to the EU economies.
