Summary/Abstract: Competence in teaching foreign languages can no longer be reduced to its linguistic components. It has become more than necessary to go beyond the stage of involving the student (non-native speaker) in improving only certain functional abilities (savoir – faire) provided by acquired linguistic automatic use. Other elements of the communicative competence are the so-called communicative strategies, among which we can mention the capacity of planning, organizing, correcting, evaluating, modifying the act of communication. The new paradygm, as the object of our research, advances the idea of a multidimensional communicative competence. Evaluating the linguistic aspect of the competence would take into consideration the theoretical knowledge only, but competence can be more effectively measured within the interactions the speaker is faced with. The speaker should be able to express all realities and to use his competence represented by his own operational abilities.
