Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on a long-term view of radio in the perspective of advances in the modern technological environment. The author challenges the thesis that every aspect of progress leads to profound changes in the way the media are used, and in alterations in the media themselves. The degree of impact of technological changes can be measured by the changes that affect the very nature of radio. In the present-day circumstances, such a turning point is the possibility of non-simultaneous usage (audio and multimedia files and blogspots). This aspect is not only consuming the musical database used in various modes but is undermining the practice of listening to radio programs related to topical situations and the social core of humankind. In this respect radio as a medium remains an opportunity for building conceivable social ties, and is thus a specific break in the on-going virtualization of the world.
