Summary/Abstract: The intent of this article is to provide the ESP course designer and materials provider with theoretical support. The paper refers first to origins and some key notions about ESP. Its premise is based on David Nunan's observations about the ESP teacher who needs the time, the skills and the support to develop ESP curriculum. (Nunan, 1987, p. 75). The personal experience is valued for helping teachers to face the task of developing ESP curricula.
