Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the second decade of the twenty-first century, the Republic of Moldavia can be found at a crossroads. Thus, the political class of this country may choose to approach the East or the West, and implicitly Romania, so that to eliminate / reduce the national vulnerabilities circumscribed to numerous weak areas and to strengthen the national security. Given the overall material competence of the Security and Intelligence Service of the Republic of Moldavia, one may appreciate that this institution can play a decisive role in the independent development of this state. In fact, the real immediate challenges related to the Service are to maintain the territorial integrity of the country and to achieve the constitutional goal, circumscribed to the permanent neutrality of the republic, to not allow the deployment of the military troops of other countries on its territory.
