Summary/Abstract: The article is structured in three sections, as its title suggests “Purpose, content and duration of copyright”. In the first section is set under review the purpose of copyright by presenting its defining elements, subsequently followed by the analysis of the main categories of protected works. The second part of the research covers the contents of the copyright under the two categories of rights (moral and proprietary), their legal characters and the last part is devoted to the analysis of the duration of copyright, which is different depending on the category of the work, the way in which the work was brought to the attention of the public, the circumstance that the work was or was not brought to the attention of the public. The study is challenging in that it puts forth special features of concepts reviewed from the perspective of legal regulations with major consequences in establishing the general framework of protection in the field of copyright.
