The Teaching of Collocates - Some Proposals

Summary/Abstract: The emphasis of the present article is placed on the main issues related to the teaching of collocates. Firstly, the theoretical concept of collocation is briefly reviewed, as well as the 'lexical approach'; then, certain pedagogical implications are discussed, while the final section is devoted to presenting a variety of both existing and original tasks meant to enhance students' awareness of the importance of collocations and to diversify the teaching/testing of vocabulary.
