Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to indicate the main problems in financing public private partnership projects by banks in Poland. PPP projects require long term credits because of their specificity, especially due to high investment required at the building stage and a given asset’s long term capability of generating profits. Two basic barriers to financing PPP projects can be indicated in Poland. The first one is closely connected with the current economic crisis which results in the increase in the costs of obtaining capital and decreased willingness of banks to grant credits, especially credits with longer maturity. The second barrier refers to both the broadly understood abilities of the banks operating in the market and their motivation and readiness to finance PPP projects.
