Summary/Abstract: In 1945, Regina Žepkaitė started history studies at Vytautas Magnus University and thus dedicated her life to the science of history. Having defended the doctoral dissertation “Lithuanians’ Struggle for Vilnius in 1918–1928”, R. Žepkaitė successfully continued historical research. She published a number of monographs and many science and science popular works and articles, and her contribution to the research of history science can be hardly overestimated. Several generations of historians were and will be guided by the results of her researches. A great number of Lithuanian historians as well as the graduates from Vilnius Pedagogical University, History Faculty prepared and defended their dissertations under her supervision; R. Žepkaitė’s constructive consultations and professional advise were of invaluable help for the younger generations of historians.
