Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of a questionnaire study which allowed for the identification of differences in defining professional success by employees based on the opinions of 789 representatives of Lower Silesian organizations. Differences were analyzed according to the respondents’ gender, size and location of an enterprise, foreign capital investments and shareholding. The relevance of the differences was verified with chi-square test and p-value was calculated with asymptotic distribution of test statistic. The hypothesis of existence of a tendency (trend) was verified with Cochran-Armitage test and the chance quotient was calculated, too. The paper includes conclusions and recommendations concerning necessity to apply a flexible approach in human resources management to consider various definitions of professional success among employees.
