Summary/Abstract: The present article deals with the study results of basic characteristics of communicative prevalence of the Russian language (its functions, linguistic behavior, preference and positioning) on the basis of a specific sociolinguistic material – the inquiry of 14 settlements of Yakutia, 1829 respondents interrogated. There are data on linguistic identity, level of proficiency in evolution; positioning in the issues of interlanguage liaison.In the second part, the issues of modern functioning of the Russian language in comparison to similar data of various researches of 1968, 1980, 1985, 2008 are considered.
