Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to disparities and controversies relating to the notion of interdisciplinary character in science. The considerations concerning the interdisciplinary nature presented in the publication do not pretend to be analyses of the systemic character, but aim merely at drawing attention to the problem area, explaining the basic notions, ordering terms and indicating the disparities existing in science. They also present propositions relating to further analyses accompanying the interdisciplinary approach towards sciences of tourism. Definitely, the interdisciplinary thinking in science is accompanied by a great number of doubts. Firstly, there appears the fundamental question: What – in science – is the interdisciplinary character and what benefits go with thinking about tourism and tourism law in interdisciplinary categories? Secondly, does the interdisciplinary character make a substantial problem in sciences of tourism, without which the development of these sciences would not be possible? The article, thus, aims at raising a discussion devoted to different images of the interdisciplinary character, which – as it seems – is the first of the research tasks. Another one is explaining whether terminologically ordered notions can be applied to the area of sciences dealing with tourism, which has already been done before. Next, the author undertakes to explain if the interdisciplinary approach is made use of in research on tourism law. In this context, the postulate of bringing closer processes of acknowledging tourism law to be an interdisciplinary domain of science proves only too apt, in compliance with attempts made with reference to the interdisciplinary character of sciences of tourism. In the literature of the subject, the problem area of tourism law, and in particular – the methodological aspects of tourism law – is dealt with in a marginal way. At the same time, the significance of this domain of science of economy is growing systematically. therefore, the next part of the author’s considerations is devoted to methodological questions, both from the perspective of sciences of tourism and from the point of view of tourism law.
