Summary/Abstract: Gaziantep, one of the oldest cities in the world, has been the origin of numerous states and civilizations throughout history. Hurris, Hittites, Assyrians, Persians and Byzantines are just some of these civilizations. The Antep region has been under the domination of Turkish-Islamic states since the 7th century. It has been under total control of Turkish states since the 16th century. Located at the junction of significant trade routes, the city could not avoid being attacked by a great many states. Antep, which was invaded by the French and the British consecutively in the first half of the 20th century, succeeded in ridding itself of these imperialist offences.
