Summary/Abstract: In order to make a historical restitution, we present the work made by Gh. C. Filip, named ”Opinii asupra profesorului Ion Bănescu. Ion Bănescu. Pedagog-jurist-arheolog-etnograf. Primar al oraşului Constanţa 1905-1907". (”Opinions about the teacher Ion Bănescu. Ion Bănescu. Teacher-lawyer-archaeologist-etnographer. Mayor of Constanţa 1905-1907”). The work includes articles and documents, gathered along the time. The volume represents a tribute brought to Ion Bănescu’s personality. Under the signatures of : Gavril Voşloban, the director of the High School „Mircea cel Bătrân”- G. Coriolan, lawyer Ion Bârsan, ing. Silviu Dragomir, teachers Ion Faiter and Constanţa Călinescu, economist „pensioner” Gh. C. Filip and colonel (r) Gheorghe I. Bănescu - Ion Bănescu’s -, a complete portrait of his personality is shaped ; the portrait includes, beside de biography, the presenation of the educator and school director, founder of Mamaia resort, mayor, archaeologist and specialist in etnology Ion Bănescu. Two original documents are added to this: a fragment from a letter signed by the colonel Gheorghe I. Bănescu and a report signed by Gh. C. Filip about the change of the plaque on Ion Bănescu’s statue. Maybe this manuscript, now in the Storehouse of the Contemporary –Modern History Department in the Museum of National History and Archaeology Constanţa, though includes also unpublished documents, it is not a proper scientific work and it does not use always specialized terms, is the contribution of a pensioner – as Gh. C. Filip recommends himself – to honor this way, an important personality for Constanţa history, the city to whose development he brought a major contribution: Ion Bănescu.
