Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to provide a phonetic description of the stressed vowel [a] used in the pronunciation of ten Polish women living in the Kokchetav Rayon (northern Kazakhstan) in the double-sided context of hard vowels. Acoustic phonetic methods and statistics were used in the research. The pronunciation of the vowel in question has been compared with relevant realisations in the general Polish, Russian and Ukrainian language.
