Summary/Abstract: The main focus of the article is a diary kept by Juwenalis Charkiewicz, a Vilnius observant friar, who recorded his journey made in 1768. From the extensive content of Charkiewicz’s work, the author of the research has selected descriptions of cities, buildings and architectural details. In the analysis the emphasis is put on the description pattern and on linguistic means used in the text (lexicon and syntax). The descriptions prove that in his writings Charkiewicz adapted old-Polish memoir writing conventions.
