Financial and investment activity of Polish SMEs in the international context

Summary/Abstract: The creation of the Single European Market has changed the business conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises. Initially, they operated on local and regional markets only. However, the ongoing process of globalization causes that their business markets have significantly expanded. In the opinion of entrepreneurs this situation has created a number of opportunities as well as threats for business activities they carried out, including financial and investment activities. Therefore, in this article the structure of investments and sources of their financing are presented based on the literature study and the results of empirical studies. An attempt was also made to assess the degree of internationalization of SMEs in Poland and Małopolska region.
