The influence of structural funds on small and medium enterprises activity in Małopolska voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The European Union prepared a series of instruments supporting regional development. One of the elements of this policy is to support small and medium enterprises. Those activities regard: firms management, overcoming bureaucratic barriers and acquisition of financial sources for realization of investments. Since the beginning of the transformation process of Polish economy, SMEs have had problems with the acquisition of outside capital for both operational and investment activity. That is why in the present paper, on the basis of survey carried out by PKPP Lewiatan and author’s own research, an attempt has been made to answer the question whether the structural funds had an impact on investment activity of micro enterprises in Małopolska. The comparative analysis has been made of investment structure and financing sources of SMEs, which applied for the refinancing of their investment activity from EU funds in Poland and Małopolska.
