Expenditures of enterprises on researchand development activity versus measurementof innovation

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to emphasize that informative content of R+D indicators in terms of innovativeness of enterprises is quite low. Applied ratings are focused mainly on the amount of expenditures and do not inform how financial resources (input) are transformed into innovation (output), and what is the effect of R+D expenditures. The paper also indicates the reasons and consequences of the above, and is a trial to relate chosen input indicators with outputs of research and development activities of firms.
