Financial situation of enterprises in times of economic crisis

Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper is an attempt to identify and assess the financial condition of companies in the years 1995-2008, especially in the periods of slow economic growth. The thesis is that the financial situation of the enterprises sector does not change during an economic crisis and the appearance of the financial crisis does not apply to non-financial entities in a given time, but to financial ones. The results of the conducted studies indicate that statistically companies act in a rather rational way, because the empirical financial results and financing structure are almost standard. Changes of the financial condition of the enterprises sector are rather associated with cyclical factors on the markets and they result from the economic rights, and not from the crisis, banks and financial institutions. Corporations had more signs of the financial crisis in 2001-2002 than in the years 2007-2008.
